Are clay pots carcinogenic?

Yes. There are no toxic materials or chemicals in the making of clay cookware. It is eco-friendly and safe to use on all kitchen appliances and used with all types of food. It is safe for vegetarians, vegans, all organic and subject to certain dietary restrictions.

Is it just coincidence or is there something more to the fact that many civilizations around the world that cooked and ate in pure clay pots were also cancer free?

The community where I come from is living proof. I come from a community in South India and have lived there for 24 years of my life. And I knew someone who had cancer (she was addicted to tobacco, so the connection was obvious). And no, just because the people there couldn’t diagnose it — India is a place where an urgent health problem — especially one with such drastic results — cannot go unnoticed. Medical science has been around for over 5,000 years.

I think this is because by cooking in clay, people were able to eliminate an important means by which carcinogens enter our bodies. Keep in mind that the food you eat has the biggest influence on how your body functions.

What happens when you cook in pots that are reactive?

When cooking in reactive metal pots, metals like cadmium, nickel, lead chromium, zinc in steel, molybdenum, aluminum in aluminum pots and PFOA in coated cookware inevitably seep into your food. It’s a process where these metals react and chemically bind to your food, with the heat acting as a catalyst. And then get into your body.

These poisonous metal ions can be very disruptive in the body. First, they accumulate and disrupt the functioning of vital organs and glands such as heart, brain, kidneys, bones, liver, etc. Second, they replace vital nutrient minerals in cells. For example, enzymes are catalysts for virtually all biochemical reactions in the body. But instead of calcium being present in an enzymatic reaction, nickel or chromium can be there instead. Toxic metals cannot perform the same role as nutritional minerals, so their presence becomes extremely disruptive.

Having metals implanted in your body is not the same as eating chemicals and metals in your food. So don’t let people confuse you by saying that since the body can take a metal implant, it should also be able to take metals from the food we eat.

Is this for Real, Can you test this?

A simple experiment that you can do in your kitchen to test this out is to boil a glass of water in any metal pot or pan. When boiling, add less than half a teaspoon of baking soda to the water. Baking soda is an alkaline substance with a high pH. Most of the food we eat is alkaline (or that’s how it is supposed to be). Once the water boils, turn off the stove and wait for the water to cool, take a sip of the water. In addition to the taste of baking soda, you will taste a foul metallic taste due to the presence of metals. In comparison, when the same experiment is performed in a pure, unglazed clay pot, you will only taste the baking soda.

To take it one step further, add the same amount of baking soda in a glass of water, stir it in and taste. It will have the exact same taste as the water in the MEC clay pot. This proves the inert or non-reactive nature of pure-clay cooking pots.
